Honest, Practical, Style Advice

How to Accessorise your Breton Stripy T-shirt

Stripy tops are everywhere at the moment and there are lots of variations on this theme – you can find one to suit any colouring and they can be so versatile, suiting most body shapes. Whilst it is true horizontal stripes are widening, so you may want to be careful if you have a particularly generous bust, it does really depend on what you do with it – accessories are a great way to change proportion and draw the eye to where you want it to go!

If you’re struggling for ideas as to how to accessorise your Breton T-shirt look no further – Piccadilly Lily and Lesley Clarke, Style Advisor have teamed together to regularly blog about such issues – Styling and Accessorising the perfect combination!

The timeless Breton TopBe bold and have fun

This is a good example of what I mean about where the eye is drawn, if you are wearing an unusual necklace, that’s where the attention will go and will transform what would otherwise appear to be quite a plain and uninspiring outfit!

Tatty Devine Musical Notes necklace £55

Have a bit of fun with your styling; we have fallen in love with these new Tatty Devine necklaces from the latest S/S16 collection.

Tatty Devine Lovestruck necklace £42

We’ve teamed the T-shirt here with a black leather jacket and denim jacket, both of which look fab. The denim jacket creates a softer look to the leather, which could also be replaced with suede.

Bibi Bijoux Black beaded Moon bracelet £45

Although we think this Bibi Bijoux beaded moon bracelet looks great with this, don’t feel you need to stick to black and white accessories.

Don’t be afraid to add a pop of colour.

Elie Beaumont Pink watch £45.

We’ve added a pop of colour with this pale pink, Elie Beaumont watch from the latest S/S16 collection.  Don’t think you have to stick to a black strap (although they do have them!), especially if you have a pale skin tone – a lighter colour will be so much kinder with your completion.

You can also smarten up your look as we’ve done here by adding this pink tweed jacket – it goes with so much! Anything with texture will be more versatile than a flat colour.

Experiment with different looks

Adding a scarf can create that vertical line to balance the horizontal stripes.  You wouldn’t necessarily think this gorgeous enamelled Bill Skinner Dressing Table pendant would go but it really sets of this unique piece.

Boho Betty wrap bracelet £25
